  • Appearance:

    They exhibit a deep blue body with contrasting black markings, particularly on their fins. 

  • Size:

    As an adult, they can reach up to 6 inches in length and 8 inches in height. 

  • Behavior:

    They are generally peaceful but can be territorial, especially during spawning, and may become more aggressive towards each other as they mature. 

  • Diet:

    They are omnivores and require a diet of high-quality dry, frozen, and live foods. 

  • Water Quality:

    They are sensitive to water quality fluctuations, so regular water changes are essential. 

  • Tank Size:

    A large, tall aquarium is recommended, with a minimum of 55 gallons for a group of six or more. 

  • Tank Mates:

    They do well with other non-cichlid fish, but should be kept away from fin-nipping tank mates. 

  • Origin:
    While bred in the Philippines, they are originally from Northern South America.
